So after about a month of not seeing any kind of blade at all, the beaver is pretty thick, run your fingers through it thick I had a great time on this trip and look forward to the next time the beaver will join me. For now, it's time to tame the beaver.

Through the Desert and on the way home

With Utah, Arizona and Nevada to go through, we are not far from home now.

Even though it is mostly desert, it can be beautiful. It was very hot, but we had short

days and lots of time to relax. We have had a great trip. By the time I get home, I will have

gone over 6,000 miles on my Harley. Up through the Pacific northwest to the upper Midwest to the great lakes region, back to the Midwest to the desert to home. It is trips like these that make you really appreciate America and all the beauty she has to offer. It is the cast of characters you run into. The people you meet. The experiences you have. This was more than just a cross country Harley adventure, it was a learning experience about this country, it's people and myself. Bikers are a great group of people. You can run into a group you do not even know and they will treat you like family. It is just the way it is. I look forward to my next road trip. For now, I am happy to be home until the road calls once again. I would like to thank all the people, friends and participants who made this blog possible. Until next time, see you on the road.
ps.
stay tuned for the final Beaver Report!, coming soon.................I know you all can not wait!

Thermopolis, Wyoming

As we left the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota at 3:15pm, it became apparent that

we needed to make up some ground as we had around 350 miles to Thermopolis. Sure in a

straight line, it would be easy. We had no such line. We had to go over the Cloud Peak Skyway which takes you past places like Crazy Woman Mountain, Wild Horse Hill and Meadow Lark Lake. At it's Peak, we were at over 9,000 feet above see level. There was snow on the side of the

road from a nearly missed storm that had just passed through. This was rugged land, but very breath taking land. We had no time to stop, but everyone wanted to stop to take pictures. I do not know if my memory can do it justice. The Sun left us into the night and in the dark, dodging Deers, whose place in the city seemed more welcome than ours. We finally found our hotel and went to have dinner. The restaurant was closed. It was 9pm. Small, very small town. We had pizza in the bar and lots to drink. We shut the bar down that night. It was an odd place for a bunch of Los Angeles Bikers. Taxidermy covered the walls and I mean covered. We had a great time. We saw so much awe inspiring scenery in one day, we needed to unwind. Let's just say I payed the price riding the next day. It was worth it.

Me and my little friend

Black Hills

The Black Hills is a wealth of awesome riding. We spent 5 hours exploring what they had to offer. As you can see, it was amazing. The entire day was packed with beautiful scenery. We started in Rapid City, South Dakota and ended the day in Thermopolis, Wyoming. We rode the Black Hills and through a mountain pass in Wyoming that went to 9000 feet. We ran into a bit of rain, but we missed the snow that had fallen earlier in the pass. Deer was a constant threat. It isn't any fun going down the road and having a deer pop out in front of you. It has been our best day of riding, scenery wise of the entire trip. Too bad we did not have time to stop at every photo opp.

Random photos taken with my Canon camera

Since this blog has been shot entirely with my ATT Tilt Pocket PC Phone. I have to say the photos in this post are from my regular point and shoot camera. I think the other photos do not look too shabby, considering they are from my phone. So here they are.

Riding into the Black Hills

With the threat of rain being just a threat and that's all, the day started great. We stopped into J&L Harley-Davidson in Sioux Falls, SD. What a great Dealership. There she sat, right in the middle of the dealership. Yeah, she was bright Harley Orange, but she was beautiful. A brand spankin new '09 Road Glide. Not to say I am going to get rid of my trusty Softail Standard. I am just looking for now. We continued on to Rapid City on the west part of the state. There is an old friend on this part of the road. Wind. Wind like few Californians know. Wind so hard and constant, that you have to fight to stay upright for hundreds of miles. Wind so hard, that if you slack off at the wrong time, you can be sent flying off the Interstate and into the ditch. We we made it safe into Rapid city after hours of doing battle with the South Dakota Winds. First though, we rode through the famous Bad Lands. What an awesome place. It was formed when the midwest was a waterway that streched from the Arctic Circle to the Gulf of Mexico. As the Rocky and Black Mountains formed, it cut off the oceans and the land was formed. That process left behing an amazing landscape of praries and breathtaking rock formations. Deer and prarie dogs make their home their. We saw both. Each day we run into new experiences and more beautiful scenery. I do not know of any other way I would like to see our beautiful country other than from the saddle of my Harley.
